The Friščić group, which was kick-started in August 2011, is a part of the University of Birmingham's continued development in the field of green chemistry. The principal interest of the Friščić group is in developing and exploiting solid-state, solvent-free and near solvent-free reactions for the purpose of cleaner and more energy-efficient synthesis.
Prof. Friščić has joined the University of Birmingham as a
New Leverhulm International Professor in Green and Sustainable Chemistry.

Modification of the milling assembly led to control and even reversible polymorphic interconversion during mechanochemical cocrystallisation. Changes to milling media has led to reactions that follow or are against Ostwald's rule of stages. Read more here.

We celebrated the 8th year anniversary of Friščić Group at McGill University in May 2019 by visiting a local wine yard.
In collaboration with the group of Prof. Dominik Cinčić, we explored the formation of halogen bonds using heavy pnictogens, i.e. phosphorus, arsenic, and antimony as novel acceptors. Read more here.
